Latest 12×12″ abstract oil painting in progress
I’ve recently had a major burst of energy, I love it when that happens! I’ve been getting lots of painting done and have a few more finished since my last blog post. I’m also starting on two new 12 x 12″ paintings. The deal I made with myself was that I wouldn’t buy new large canvases until I finished using the canvases I still had. At the beginning of the Summer I stocked up with 20, 12×12″ canvases and 3, 20×20″ canvases.
“All I Speak is Love”, 12×12″ oil on canvas, part of my 2018 Fall portfolio to be released October 25th. This painting was inspired by the song “3 Monkeys” by Alison Reynolds.
I’m 3 half paintings away from finishing up all 23 canvases! I consider myself prolific, but 23 in one Summer has to be a record for even me. This new portfolio of work will be released soon on my website. I’m shooting for a release date of October 25th, because it’s my birthday! I’m going to do a drawing for a FREE original painting on October 25th to celebrate my latest releases. I haven’t decided yet which painting it will be, but for sure it will be one of the new canvases completed!
Another 12×12″ oil painting in progress
All you need to do to enter is go to my website and sign up for my email list. Everyone on my email list will be entered in the drawing. There will be only one winner, but everyone who signs up will get a FREE downloadable PDF version of my mandala coloring book!
“Spinning”, 12×12″ oil on canvas, finished this week and available with my 2018 Fall portfolio release on October 25th.
One more thing, I almost forgot about! I will be participating in my first group show in Silver City the first weekend of October. I will have two paintings in the Indy Artists Pop Up show for the Red Dot Weekend at the Galleries! I recently joined the Silver City Art Association and happened in at the perfect time for their annual event. If you happen to be in Silver City October 5-8th, head downtown and check it out! Follow the Red dots for the art. 🙂

Aaron and I at the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Holidays. I really did enjoy all the time spent with my family in 2016. We also had a really fun and successful mini-tour to Arizona with our music. Sunlight performed in Phoenix, Tucson and Ajo, AZ and we were very grateful for the turnout and CD sales!
Margaritas in Mexico!
While in southern Arizona, we visited the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. It was awesome to see all the huge cacti! Saguaros and Organ Pipe Cactus were everywhere. We took a short hike, but it was quite cold while we were there. Of course, it warmed up into the 70s on the day we left.
Serenaded by Mariachis
We made a very quick trip down to Mexico for dinner one of the days we were visiting in Ajo. It was supposed to be a full day trip, but my sweetie woke up sick that day and ended up sleeping until 3 in the afternoon. Once he got up, we decided to go for it and drove down to Puerto Penasco for a wonderful dinner by the sea! The food was great, even if the weather was COLD and windy. Our waiter was awesome and brought us our own personal heater. We practiced our Espanol with him and he practiced his English with us. Other than the trucks of soldiers riding around with automatic weapons, nothing was out of the ordinary. I guess the soldiers were there to protect the tourists. Like I said, nothing out of the ordinary!
Javelina helping himself to some grub in the garbage
I saw my first live Javelina while we were in Ajo! Apparently, they are regular visitors to the dumpster there. I only got one photo of one of them, but at night we were surrounded in our car by a herd/pack? of them! It was quite interesting, like watching a nature show in person! haha!
Our dear, sweet Raven. May she RIP 😦
We arrived home in Albuquerque just in time for Christmas and spent several great days hanging out with our kids, siblings and parents. Only one day was a sad day, as we had to have one of our fur babies put down at the end of the year. She was old and sick, but Raven will be greatly missed! She was a great dog. ❤
Cannabis coloring page, will be available in The Chronicle sometime this week!
The last week of the year I was asked to create a coloring page for a new local quarterly paper. The Chronicle is New Mexico’s Cannabis Magazine. I created a Cannabis Mandala coloring page for the first issue of 2017. It was quick and fun, check out their website for more information.

It took a little while! I worked on putting this video together for the past few weeks. There were over 600 single frames put together to create it! I plan on doing more in the future, hope you enjoy!

The first 4 designs for my second coloring book.
You may already know that I created a coloring book a couple of years back. As usual, it seems I am ahead of the trends. Lately, I’ve seen articles about the popularity of adult coloring books.
Personally, I have always loved to color! When my kids were younger, I would color with them and sometimes fill in books that they had tossed aside. Coloring is a GREAT way to relieve stress and just basically, RELAX! 🙂 Plus, it’s FUN!
That brings me to a recent epiphany I had about my art. I have been frustrated recently by my attempts to have my art accepted in the Fine Art realm. For whatever reason, not many people see my art as “Fine” art. This is perfectly fine with me though, as the epiphany I had the other day was the fact that I don’t care if my art is “Fine” art, because to me it’s more about being “FUN”! I no longer worry about my art making it into the “Fine Art” category, it’s “FUN Art”!
Anyway, back to the coloring book. I have one, already completed, coloring book, available in my Etsy shop. I am also currently working on my second coloring book. The photo above shows the first 4 designs. I plan on making this book 20 pages, or designs. It should be available soon. I will let you know as soon as it is! 🙂
