Long time!

It’s been too long since my last post. Lots going on in my private life right now. Half of August we were gone on vacation. We visited the Pacific NW for the first time ever and we really liked it! It was a great trip and we visited some friends and some family. Met a few of my facebook friends that I had never met in person before, plus a college friend I hadn’t seen since 1999!

I’m back to work in my studio, mainly been working on getting my coloring books out in the world. Yesterday, I started on a new coloring page design. I’m having so much fun with these mandala drawings!

A couple of weeks ago, I was feeling down and in a dark place. For whatever reason, I decided that I should add some black paint to a few older paintings, just to see what they would look like. I really am happy with the outcome. I didn’t actually use black paint out of the tube, but mixed my own black with Ultramarine blue and Olive green. It’s on old artist trick to make the black more luminous.

The painting above is being auctioned in my facebook fan group, starting bid $40! If you are interested, you must be a member of the group to bid! To join the group, go to THIS PAGE and click the join button. 🙂

I guess the main reason I haven’t posted here in so long is that I’m feeling like I’m at a turning point with my art and I’m not sure where it’s going next. I’m working on simplifying things, but with all the art I have piled up in my studio, that’s not an easy task. Stay tuned, I promise to keep you in the loop! 🙂

Revisiting Art Auctions

Paula's art show

Me standing in front of my show at High Desert Art & Frame

I wanted to share a LINK to a review (scroll down to bottom of that page) that was recently written on my current show at High Desert Art & Frame. The show turned out lovely and will be up for view until the end of July.

I am currently working on cleaning out my flat file. This has been a long process! I have SO MANY small paintings, sketches and drawings in there!

At first, I thought about just burning them ALL! I once tried to throw some of my older art away and my mom rescued said pieces from the trash. Needless to say, I don’t throw art away anymore, and I have thought of burning it many times in the past. I never succeeded at that though. What if there is someone out there who might get joy out of that little painting or drawing?

I have decided that rather than throw away or burn my old art, I’m hopping back on ebay to auction off these old pieces. I am actually doing this in two phases. First, I am posting said art on my Facebook Art Page at the starting bid prices. My facebook fans have about a day or 24 hours to snatch up the pieces they want. Once the 24 hours is over, they are taken down from facebook and posted for auction on ebay. If you are interested in seeing said paintings, you can hop over to my Facebook Art Page or my Ebay listings. I am not sure how long this will be going on, but I’m starting with 10 per day. I have literally tens possibly a hundred of these little gems. Most are watercolor paintings or “sketches” of ideas that I had that either became larger paintings or never made it past the sketch stage.

This Week’s Art Auction

Latest Art Auction

I have changed my art auctions from a weekly event to sporadic. My schedule is pretty wacky these days with the music projects I’m working on, but I don’t want to neglect my art side, so here it is, my latest art auction. This is one of my favorite recent paintings, actually, I guess it’s not super recent, it was painted in 2011. “No Stopping a Love rEVOLution” is all about changing the world with, you guessed it, LOVE! The auction lasts a week and the starting bid is $20. Happy bidding!

Weekly Auction: something different

This week’s art auction is something just a bit different! This week I’m posting one of my painted guitars. This is the smallest of the guitars I’ve done, it’s a decorator guitar, made of wood and painted with acrylics. Starting bid is the same, $20. Stand is included with the guitar, so you have a perfect way to display it on a mantel, shelf or desk! Happy bidding!

Vacation over, REALLY this time!

I guess it’s just been one of those summers. After having my studio time interrupted over and over again, I decided to extend my vacation from my art studio. It’s not as if I’m not working at all. Still have Chroma Studios to run, which has basically been taking up most of my time this summer. In addition to all types of personal events and issues, like working on house projects in preparation to sell our house.

Anyway, finally, today….I’m baaaaack! 🙂 I have made a new commitment to spending at least 8 hours a day in my studio, working on my art and art related activities. Sometimes I just need to break away from the art and recharge my creative batteries, so to speak. I am really excited about getting back to painting! I am considering going back to my landscapes. Actually, not really back, because I have some ideas for a different, more abstract, landscape style.

“Perfect Love”, 22 x 16″ oil on board, abstract landscape, $400

I painted a couple of these last year and a couple of years ago and looking back now, I’m ready to expand on that style and turn it into a series.

First off though, I’m finishing up the “All About Love” series I started at the beginning of the summer.

In the meantime, I’ve just posted my art auction for this week, “Winter Day”. I’m anticipating the cooler days ahead and looking forward to it!

Weekly Art Auction

Getting back to my weekly art auctions. This week’s auction is a daily journal painting from 2007. During this period, I custom built several wood frames for my daily journal paintings. I wanted a frame that I could paint on so the painting could be continued into the frame. This was the result of that experiment. If memory serves me, I did 8 of these paintings. This is the only one left! Click on the image to go to the auction page. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! 🙂
