For some time now, I have been brainstorming for an idea, a project, a series……I wasn’t really sure WHAT exactly. The one thing I did know, I wanted to find a way to share my love for art, and my love for LOVE! Basically, I want to USE my art to spread love around the globe. When I paint, I infuse my art with emotion, most often the emotion is LOVE! What I do know is that the world NEEDS MORE LOVE! There is plenty of hate, fear, greed, violence……. but there is not enough love and peace! I was painting Peace signs years ago, before it became popular again. While peace is important, I think we need love first! Once there is plenty of LOVE, peace will follow.
This week it finally came to me, the idea I’ve been waiting for! I feel like I have finally found my purpose! The reason I was given this gift of art! My goal, my purpose, my reason for being….is to spread love! Now, my first name for this idea was “Spread Love”, which just sounds a bit too sexual! This project has NOTHING to do with sex! This is about pure love, spiritual love, unconditional love, God’s love! The love that is desperately needed in the world right now. The only thing that can overcome fear is LOVE! So after much thought and brainstorming, I am now calling this project…..”Love…..Pass it on>>>>>”. My idea is one that I hope will become viral. My hope is that this “Love” will make it’s way around the globe! With help from this wonderful thing called the internet…..it can happen!
So, here’s the plan, I am currently working on a series of paintings. Some of these paintings will be made in to stickers that will say “Love….Pass it on>>>”. I will GIVE AWAY these stickers to anyone and everyone who is willing to “Pass it on”. I will also go out in the world, locally at first, and later this summer across the country. While I am out I will pass out FREE stickers and give plenty of FREE HUGS! All in my effort to spread love! I don’t care about getting credit for this idea and my hope is that other artists will join in and do the same! I will post more information as I finish up the first painting for this series. Please send me an email or leave a comment if you are interested in being a part of this project.
Now, for the blast from the past!
I was going through some of my dad’s things this past weekend. Cleaning out more stuff I don’t really need. My dad had a large stack of business cards that he apparently saved over the last 30 years or so. I decided to go through them one by one and found the card above. At first there was nothing remarkable about the card, but after a second glance I realized how incredibly remarkable it was. This card has a logo on it that I designed WAY BACK in my sophomore year of high school! I created this logo for a contest in my high school art class. It was meant for a local company and I WON! Anyway, the thing that truly blew my mind is that my dad had carried that business card around with him all these years! If it wasn’t for dad, I would have long forgotten about this logo, I would have never seen it again. Honestly, I don’t know if this company still exists.
